“Have you been crying?” Warm fingers touched my cheek and I jerked in surprise at the sparks that danced through my blood. I couldn’t remember if he had ever touched me except for obligatory dances at celebrations and fund- raisers. “What happened? Are you okay?”

“No, I’m fine.” I stepped out of his reach and rubbed under my eyes. Tearing my gaze from his I leaned over and picked up his cane. “It’s allergies.”

“We’ve known each other too long for you to lie to me.” He let his hand fall back to his side. I handed him the cane and stepped back. “Someone told you that I was on my way, huh? We all know how much you hate me. I’m surprised you didn’t jump out of the window.”

“It was an option.” I rolled my eyes. I guess I wasn’t the only one that remembered our last meeting hadn’t been pleasant. “I also considered hiding in the closet, but was too slow.”

There! Take that, perfect Jake Simmon. I was quick on my feet today.

“So, you know why I’m here.” The way his eyes ran over me as if taking stock was obnoxious.

“I’m your body guard. When the crazy women start running after you, I’m to dive in the way.” And damn if they wouldn’t come running when they saw how he looked all grown up and rough around the edges.

“I’m glad they have a plan.” He scratched his chin. “Getting bombarded with underwear and bras is a health issue.”

“If they got to know you, it wouldn’t be a problem.” I rolled my eyes.

“What does that mean?” His head cocked to the side.

“I thought you lost your leg, not your brain.” My eyes widened, but it was too late to take it back. Why was it that I said the most horrible things around him? Even when we’d been younger I’d had diarrhea of the mouth. Especially around Jake.

He threw his head back and laughed. “I don’t think they’re after my brain, Maddie. Thankfully the part they’re most interested in is still fully functional.”

His lazy smile and sparkling eyes had me swallowing hard.

Heat crept up my neck and I fought to not look away. “Well, good for you.”

5 stars(!!!) I've got the FEELS read.

Review: 

I will start by saying that ever since Nichole Chase announced Bedmates it was one of my most anticipated reads of 2016. 

I mean, who can say know to an enemy to friends to lovers romance? 

the answer is NO ONE. 

And one written by Nichole Chase? 

Well, you'll have to be crazy to decide not to read it. 

Then, I learned it was about the first daughter and as sad as I am to admit, doubts started to creep in.

I love politics and intrigue....but I wasn't so sure that I was up for some likeable characters. 

Then a chance presented itself for a review copy and being a Nichole Chase fan of course I jumped at the opportunity. 

in a warm cozy chair I snuggled and sat down to read my ARC, pretty soon I realized Jake was an army veteran missing a leg (not to talk about the psychological damage he suffered during his employment in Afghanistan).

I should not have worried at all, because as Nichole has proven many times over she writes great, likeable, reasonable, sweet, relateable characters that are just too human. 

Nichole gave us an interesting ride feeled with funny moments, sad moments, heartwarming moments, strong characters, real issues, the light we can find in our darkest moments and the meaning of standing up for what you believe in and standing next to the people that mean most to you. 

What I'm trying to say is that Nichole proved once again why she is such a great author expressing human emotions, dynamics and moments (family, friends. lovers, enemies....everything). 

For me this was a five stars amazing read. and I'm happy for the opportuninty to read it and can't wait to see what Nichole will write next. 

Simply put, I'n in love with Maddie and Jake (Maddie was awesome and great and Jake was truly drool worthy), not to mention the easter egg of the Duchess and Prince of Liliria(!!! can you believe it??).

My Thoughts:

To be honest, I don;t know what I expected from this book. I don;t know if I expected more violence, more abuse, more sex or just more. Despite the fact that Kat was an idiot and indecisive, I found myself enjoying this book a lot.

Meet Kat, twenty something university student, working at the local public library with her friend Jules. Kat in contrast to Jules, is simple, introvert and simple...or so we think. We get to know the background story of Kat as the book progresses. The author cuts to the chase pretty fast, when Jules dares Kat to kiss the first guy she will see in front of her...Gavriel.

I really wanted to like Gavriel a little more than I did, but something was missing.[ Lately, it seems that a lot of books miss something and I start to wonder about the quality of the books that I read.]

He was dar and disturbed and a total psycho with a dark background, pretty much the same as Kat's, but I think he softened pretty fast and easy.

There is a lot of attraction, pretty much since page 5, but despite all the tension there isn't anything huge there. It was kinda of insta love,for me at least, which I hate but the story progressed steadily. If that makes any sense. The annoying thing was that the days in the book seemed like they were the same. Same routine for Gav and Kat, only some actions changed and the conversations that were pretty interesting. Gav had some interesting ideas for what each person is and how he sees humans. Also, I don;t think I will see a doctor with the same eye again.

The characters were complex but Kat turned me off a lot with her indesicive character and what she thought she knew and what she didn't. She did not know if she pretended to like the murderer or not for pretty much 80% of the book. The story is told in alternative POV's which is awesome and something I L.O.V.E.

The writing was very good and the sentenced inviting and I really enjoyed reading this book. Some sentences and phrases seemed to repeat themselves over and over in both POV'S as well.
I don;t want to discuss the ending which was explosive and then a little weird and dump.

So, 3 stars for this good dark romance!! Hope you enjoy.

He’s serious about his no-strings philosophy. As serious as I am about living with no regrets. I can’t help but fall for him, even though I know better. So my biggest regret might be a broken heart.

I will sum this book in one word: Predictable.

Meet Leslie, a thirty something well off woman, single, with a dog who just died and a vow not to have regrets about anything she does anymore. She meets the sex god Josh and together they share a passionate night (they only met that very morning).

I get it that this is a short story but it was really stupid and predictable. I finished the entire book with difficulty since I could not even concentrate. The writing was good but it lacked something important that I cant place. Although, the sex scenes were sexy and hot, for me personally, it lacked something. 

I mean from the book description you can actually tell what's this story is all about. I give this book two stars because of the writing and for the author's attempt to write a book.

My Thoughts:

It's been sometime since I read a book in my native language- Greek. I forgot the beauty of the words and the sentences and how different it can actually feel to read a book that you can fully understand.

This book tells the story of a 35 year old housewife in the bring of breakdown. She is a wreck emotionally and she wants out. She wants something different because she is tired with the routine and the chores and her life that lacks romance and walks under the stars. In other words, she wants what every married woman wants after 10 or more years of marriage- a change.

Her husband is simple and a man of few words. He plays an important role in the book as to how his wife will choose the company of the neighbor next door. Although, he doesnt say much in the book he changes a lot while the book progresses and he becomes more understandable.

Although, the neighbor that will have an affair with the housewife plays an important role in the book we dont know anything about him except the fact that he loves her and that he can make an amazing Greek coffee.

You will want to know their names but they dont have one. Throughout the book you won't read their names once, it doesn't matter, this is a story that needs to be told and people need to understand that routine can be destructive for any marriage or friendship.

The emotions were vivid at some points of the book and flat at other but the words that the author used were simply beautiful. The story progresses fast enough for the reader to feel anything other than confusion...thats what the wife feels in most of the book. Confusion and lack of interest in anything.

Its a story about forgiveness, the power of love, understanding and the fact that birds and butterflies wont last forever once reality and every day life kick in.

My Thoughts:

I was avoiding this book since it came out in 2012. I was seeing it everywhere, I heard about it everywhere, I even recommended it to customers at the bookstore because everyone was reading it. I was avoiding it mostly because, when a new book is coming out I usually refrain from reading it, and the reason? None at all. Its like a bad reflex.

Despite all the raving reviews for Divergent and the two sequels, I dont particularly think this book is 100% dystopian. I would rather categorize it under Young Adult Fantasy with a lot of futuristic and Hunger Games elements – minus the slaying of teenagers.

Meet Tris, a girl from the fraction of Abnegation who's life changes completely when a test categorises her as something abnormal – Divergent. She decides to leave her fraction for Dauntless. A group of people that mesmerized from a young age, when she realized that she is not selfless enough in order to belong to Abnegation. What struck me while the book progressed, was the fact that Tris became amazingly selfish. It seemed that she cared about her previous fraction but not enough. And that was kind of annoying. I liked that Tris decided to challenge herself and chose Dauntless, something that was completely different from what she was before. Although, selfish, she evolves.

Meet Four, a guy that is very intriguing and quiet but absolutely fit, and Tris's instructor. We get a lot of glimpses of him, until he becomes something more to Tris and although, the romance was not that sizzling, I cared for both of them deeply and I wanted (and want) to read more. I'm sure we will get a lot more of Four in the upcoming books.

The plot was okay, pretty simple in my opinion, and there were some subplots and things for consideration that ended up playing a major role in the progress of the book and the series. I am not crazy about it but I care enough to inhale the next two books in the series AND the book about Four.

At last, what struck me as odd is that people target this book towards teens of 12-17 of age but the violence in it is kind of much and at times shocking. From attacks, to catcalls, to suicide to extreme violence and fights. So I am not so sure if you would like your kid, cousin, niece whatever reading that if they are below 14 (again in my opinion).

So, yeah, dystopian or not this book is really good and it would appeal to the fans of The Hunger Games.

Eight Days A Week is an amazing fast read packed with lots of humor, sarcasm, sadness and change. Lots of change.

Meet Andrew an arrogant 25 year old teenager. He is selfish, arrogant, a poser and worst of all immature...left alone to babysit two kids. Not the best combination for most but he ends up doing one hell of a job.

Meet Gwen, a ''mother'' of two (you will understand the quotation when you read the book), career woman with lots of stress for her two little kids and job, until Andrew comes in the picture.

The plot takes flight from there and everything evolve into a beautiful love story and a man that changes himself, he becomes someone better because he needs to and wants to, and he wants it a lot. The background story of Gwen and the kids its truly amazing delivered in a way that made my heart swell from sadness and love at the same time.

The characters are so well developed that I actually cared about what would happen and how things would progress for them. It is, of course, visible that all of the characters in the book reach their personal growth and get what they were looking for, so for me that is simply amazing. It is not easy for an author to do that,but when it happens and better yet,when the reader understands it I love it.

The book was delivered in a writing so beautiful and livid, that had me turn the pages on an impossible speed. The plot was well crafted and I felt that I had all the time in the world with them. A little turn off was the fact that for me Gwen and Andrew grew into each other fairly quickly, kinda like a insta lovish, thus the 3 stars.

I totally recommend this book, because it is a page turner, fun and amazingly pleasant.

This is a heart breaking story of Avery, a single mother who struggles everyday to raise her autistic son Max. Her entire life is layed out in a checklist that she has to follow to the T for her son to be comfortable and not act out as she described. The opening scene of the so soft spoken and heartbreaking that it had me absorbed into the book immediately.

Meet Mason street, a rock band singer whose dream ended stortly after it began. In an attempt to piece his broken pieces and lick his wounds, Mason returns back home, at the house he spent most of his childhood. Ray Abbot's home, Avery's father. Everyone is pretty happy to see him there except Avery who still remembers the time he broke her heart.

As the story progresses the characters change a lot and develop into something beautiful and real, I liked that they achieved what they wanted from all along and that they did not lose their track with the pages. I came to love Mason, because he became a sweet man, that actually cared about the people around him and he is not scared to show it. As for Avery, she learned how to live her life and little more and started believing in second chances, and that the world doesnt always circle a checklist.What I appreciated about Avery even more was the fact that although she crazy in love with Mason, she did not lose focus on Max and his constant needs.

Max, was always in the background BUT the author did a great job of somehow centering him. Everything involved around him no matter he wasnt talking a lot, or was just playing on his ipad, I got to give her credit for this. It was just amazing, and something not all author can actually work around.

The writing was brilliant, with a double POV, I felt like I knew everything that was going inside Avery's and Mason's head, the feelings where strong and the ride was hard. The plot is really down to earth, dealing with real life issues, autism, acceptance and second chances.

I gave How We Deal With Gravity four stars because I would like to read a little bit more of Max since he was the center of attention of everyone.

Although,it took me some time to get into the story and it was kind of predictable, I enjoyed Promise Me This. The writing is really nice and it made the characters more real and more likable. The story is being told by two POV;s and I always love that in a book, it just makes it much more interesting. I loved Jessie and her awesome character. The fact that she was off the wall and so much different than other heroines of similar books was pretty awesome.

In comparison to other NA books, this one was kind of original when it came to the main characters and they relationship they developed. Yes,like other stories these two are attracted to each other without giving anything away. Jessie seems to be the bad girl from the good family with the dark side on sex and Nate is the good guy from the broken family with a shy and more closed and restricted personality when it comes to sex because of his past.

The relationship between those two does not have any ups and downs and tough break ups like in other books of this genre. Everything seem smooth and Jessies helps Nate a lot when it comes to finding his personality,trust himself and realize that he is not danger to anyone.

At some points the feelings were flat and did some scenes lacked that anticipation. The conversations were okay,some seemed forced and others were extremely good while others lacked something, as for the humor better not to discuss it. It was bad. 

This is part of a series that I think it helps if you read the first three books in the series but you can also read it as a standalone.

Although the story started immediately, really I am not kiding, its one of those books that cut to the chase and I just loved it, but the sentences were too short, the emotions too shallow and even from the first few pages I found myself contemplating my next read BUT I was so wrong. I am so glad I gave it a chance because by chapter three the book transformed like a phoenix to something so deep, complicated and painful that I couldn;t believe what I was reading.

Stephanie Witter is my new favorite author. In the steps of Jessica Sorensen she delivers a book so emotional and deep, so real that I found myself tearing up in some scenes. Skye was such a complicated woman. Dealing with her depression and an abusive relationship under her belt that made her doubt herself and stomp on her self appreciation, hiding from everyone and from everything she comes face to face with her TA, Duke.

Duke is one of the most heart broken characters I have ever read, dealing with his own depression and loss, he founds refuge in the complicated life of Skye. Their friendship is just mesmerizing. Two broken people find solace on each other by helping each other face his/her fears and demons. By accepting who they are, how things were and how they can have a bright future ahead of them . The past is the past.

I liked the fact that we get all of their background information as the story progresses, as they get to know each other more and more.

There were times that I wanted to throw my kindle on the wall because Skye was being really annoying and she was full with contradictions. She wanted something and then she changed her mind again in order to change her mind again later. That was crazy. Some situations kept repeating until it became predictable and annoying and felt like the book went in a circle for a while.

Still, the feels were just over the top. I just couldnt believe it, and the worst part was that they came in powerful waves that you could nothing to stop them but just drown in them. Desperations, pain, humiliation, sadness, embarrassment and happiness, from love and affection we fly over to the land of guilt and remorse. It was just astounding.

The writing captivated me completely and I finished this book within a few hours and right now I just cant find the second part to be released.

This is a story that deals with tough situations,abuse depression, the power of finding yourself again and take control of who you are and facing your fears. There were a few disturbing scenes that made the book even better – from an emotional point of few always- and had me aching for both Skye and Duke.

I totally recommend this book.

My Thoughts:

This book contains strong language, descriptive sex, drugs, booze and disturbing scenes.

It was one of those boring evenings that I had nothing to do but youtubing random things...from how to's tutorials to music to top 10 things etc etc and then I found myself watching the first season of Ex Wives of Rock. Two of those ladies seemed familiar to me. One of them was Athena Lee which I had seen live with her then husband James Kottak of Scorpions at a Scorpions concert in Greece in 2008. Yay. The other one was Bobbie Brown and I remembered instantly from the video clip of Warrant, Cherry Pie.

To be honest I;m not into reality shows, I think they are stupid and pretentious and that there is no reason for someone to go on live TV with their personal lives especially if they are famous (they are all over the tabloids anyway). That , I realized when I was in the 7th episode of the show. Yay. And here;s how I ended up reading this book.

Bobbie went on and on about her book and how it failed with one of the publishers etc etc. During the show she says how Pamela Anderson stole Tommy Lee from her and how she was married with the late Jani Lane, lead singer of Warrant. I was intrigued ,because, if I like one thing its autobiographies.

The book was a drama, coming from a broken family, Bobbie was one thing but rebel. She was shy and she had boyfriends but not as many as we would probably think. She came second at the beauty pageant
competition and from then her fame skyrocketed. Agents called her from Los Angeles to model for them and soon 20 year old Bobbie found herself in the City Of Angels, a shy Louisiana girl turned into the most sexy and confident woman and then her downfall began.

It seemed to me that Bobbie had so many opportunities to make big in the scene but her desperation for love and acceptance came first. From what I realized she didnt want to be alone almost never, she always had a boyfriend and if she didnt, she would have sex with someone. She did a couple of video clips for some bands and when she landed the deal with Warrant she became so famous but that only came back to bite her in the ass. She got pregnant from Jani Lane and they rushed into a marriage that none of them was really sure if it would work (and it didnt). That experience alone it would mess up any sane person out there. Jani was over the top, came home drunk, cheated, lied, didnt have sex with her (which she hated) and she became such a b*** that it was disturbing. In the end their marriage failed and Bobbie with a 2 year old kid was moving back and forth all the tme between Louisiana and Cali. But while I was reading all of this and It was a big portion of the book I felt nothing. It was written in non descriptive way, with sentenced composed by a five year.

Meet Tommy Lee. I wont say a lot about this but in my opinion this was the most explosive relationship ever. Both made huge mistakes and both had issues and drugs didnt help at all.
It was like every rock relationship should be like. Sex, drugs and rock n roll with a touch of continuous fighting.

Bobbie Brown was a really kind, sensitive and a good woman that went after the wrong men. Men that she hoped they would provide what she needed but eventually they didnt.

The writing was ok if you consider she used a ghost writer but the dialogues didnt seem real, like they never happened or they were changed. The emotions were kind of flat for a memoir and in the end it left a bitter taste because you realise that Bobbie wasted 15 years of her life, her best years like someone would say, on finding the perfect boyfriend, drugs and constant self sabotaging. She would have made it big if she was a little more down to earth. I just felt sorry for her.

I really tried to like this book. I heard that it was different from any other New Adult books but I was so disappointed and annoyed.

Meet Riley, she just broke up with her 6 year boyfriend because he was cheating on her and the author through a 3rd person POV takes us in a journey with the most annoying, clueless, immature 21-year-old out there. Yes. Amazing.

To quote the author from her comment on goodreads :

“Hey everyone! I'm not trying to make any excuses, but I DID want to provide an explanation in regards to the manner in which I approached this project. My ultimate goal was to write a NA novel with characters who were relatable and realistic, and early reviews have [hopefully] confirmed this!
Unfortunately, many reviewers have provided feedback that they could not stand the characters in this story due to their being whiny, immature and a little bit clueless. In my opinion, however, all of these attributes define a large proportion of the current 20-something population, and I wanted the characters in my book to portray what new adults are actually like. ”

So, the new adults that she portrays in her book act like clueless 16 year olds that think the end of the world is upon them because they just broke up with their boyfriend. The condemn themselves to a series of dates just because they want to get back into game and because they want to gain the experience they never had in this field? Like seriously?

I saw the entire story unfold in front of my eyes without even reaching the middle of the book (I dropped it at 25%), it was so common and predictable. In my opinion I would prefer if the book was targeted for YA rather than NA. What guy (20 something y.o.) would wait and make such a plan in order to confess to the girl he likes? None. I think he would already hooked up with her because thats how 20 y.o's act these days. There are immature people out there but not like that and they are not this annoying and so so so so CLUELESS.

I felt that the emotions portrayed in Since Forever Ago were flat, situations passed over and not explained enough, and the break up which is one of the major events and what triggered the entire plot is not described appropriately and we don't see the aftermath. The emotional effect it had on Riley is almost not there.

This book is a waste of time and totally not worth it. The 2.5 stars are for the little humor and the esoteric monologues that I had some time to read a book with them.
